Rock the Country organizers and area officials involved in the music festival praised the community for its support at a luncheon Wednesday at the Anderson Civic Center, ushering in the 2025 tour.
Organizers boasted that the two-day festival had drawn over 40,000 each day in 2024, filling hotel rooms and campgrounds and garnering nationwide media attention, according to a statement.
Marty Elliott, vice president of university relations for Peachtree Entertainment, shared statistics from last year with members of the Anderson County officials, the United Way of Anderson County, and business leaders and explained how the event has a positive, lasting impact. "We've been thrilled with the way this one is going. It really comes down to the people," she said.
Adrienne Cole, the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center general manager, and councilman Greg Elgin traveled to Michigan to pitch Anderson to musician and Rock the Country tour organizer Kid Rock at his lake house.
"Mr. (Greg) Elgin and I got to go to Kid Rock's house; he invited us along, with other towns, to come to his home," she said. "He asked the question, 'Why Anderson? Why do we want to bring Rock the Country to Anderson?' My response was, 'The people.' We are a great community. Our good 'ol hospitality on top of that. He said 'Sold!' " Cole said.
Josh Hawkins, director of Emergency Services under the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, said at the luncheon that his staff helps with public safety.
"It's a collaboration of all the people in Anderson County, and it's a collaboration with 46 Entertainment with Michael McBraer and their staff to make it as safe as possible not only for the citizens of Anderson County but all the visitors who come in," he said.
Rock the County had a substantial economic impact on Anderson County.
"It has a huge economic impact for the community," said Rusty Burns, Anderson County Administrator.
A study by the Regional Economic Analysis Laboratory of Clemson said the festival had a $21.2 million economic impact on Anderson County.
Peachtree Entertainment, the promoter of the Rock the Country Music Festival, confirmed in November that Anderson County would again be a key stop on the 2025 tour.
On July 25-26, Anderson County will be the final tour stop, making it the 10th show in the lineup.
"We're excited about the lineup," he said.
The previously released lineup includes Kid Rock, Nickelback, Hank Williams, Jr., Tracy Lawrence, Gavin Adcock, Aaron Lewis, Shenandoah, Mark Chesnutt, Sammy Kershaw, Little Texas, Hudson Westbrook, and Logan Crosby, along with house party sets by Afroman, Ying Yang Twins, and Dee Jay Silver.

Strong storms are heading to the Upstate, the National Weather Service says, and tornadoes could spin out of them.
The weather service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Anderson, Greenville and Spartanburg counties, among many others in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, for Saturday into Sunday, March 15-16. According to the statement, "A powerful storm system will impact the region Saturday evening into Sunday bringing heavy rain and severe storms."
Here's what we know about the storm system and dangers it could bring.
Christiaan Patterson, a meteorologist with the NWS based at GSP, detailed the storm threats.
"We are looking at some thunderstorms impacting the Greenville area Saturday into Sunday," Patterson told the Greenville News Friday afternoon. "The impacts could be strong winds, large hail and tornadoes.
"We cannot rule out strong tornadoes in the area."
The statement by the weather service issued at 3:44 a.m. Friday coincides with Patterson's outlook.
"The main hazards with any severe storms that develop are damaging wind gusts, tornadoes, and large hail," the statement says. "A strong tornado cannot be ruled out. Additionally, locally heavy rainfall may result in isolated nuisance to minor flooding, especially across the southwest North Carolina mountains and the South Carolina and Georgia mountains. Gusty non-thunderstorm winds will develop Saturday into Sunday, with gusts from 35-50 mph across the North Carolina mountains and 25-35 mph gusts elsewhere."
The weather service's detailed forecast indicates the storms will start in the early morning hours Sunday.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Winds 8-13 mph in the morning and could gust as high as 22 mph.
Saturday night: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 a.m. Low around 62. Wind 13-17 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Sunday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 3 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. High near 73. Wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Sunday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 45. Wind 7-9 mph with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

ANDERSON — A German manufacturer confirmed it paused its plan to invest $200 million into its Anderson County factory to begin producing cutting-edge hydrogen fuel cells for electric vehicles.
Bosch, an engineering and technology company, said Feb. 20 that it would reevaluate the investment in its plant on S.C. Highway 81 when regional market demand increases.
The company confirmed the pause — which it said began in 2024 — one day after its main buyer for the fuel cells announced it had filed for bankruptcy.
“The U.S. hydrogen fuel cell mobility market has experienced significant changes over the past year,” a Bosch spokesperson said in a statement. “As a result, the planned investment in Anderson ... for fuel cell manufacturing was delayed in mid-2024.”
The major customer, electric commercial truck maker Nikola Corp., was seen as ascendant until it became embroiled in scandal in 2022, the Associated Press reported. It announced it had filed for bankruptcy Feb. 19.
In 2022, the Arizona-based manufacturer was named as the main customer for Bosch hydrogen fuel cell stacks, which were slated to help power Class 8 commercial trucks. The heavy-duty rigs can weigh more than 33,000 pounds and might struggle to transport goods on battery power alone.
Bosch’s Anderson plant was to be one of only three sites in the world where the company would produce those components. The investment in that production technology was supposed to create 350 new jobs over four years.
“Hydrogen continues to be a growth area for Bosch and a key technology for the path to an electrified future,” the Bosch spokesperson said, adding that the Anderson factory manufactures “multiple products within the Bosch Mobility business sector beyond hydrogen, including sensors and electronic control units for the powertrain.”
Christian Kolzem, a senior vice president and technical plant manager for Bosch, said at the time that although Nikola was the primary buyer, "other customers will open up.” He said the fuel cell production investment had guaranteed the future of the factory in Anderson.
The plant was expected to pivot its focus mostly to the fuel cell stacks, while continuing to make some parts for traditional vehicle engines. It will celebrate its 40-year anniversary in 2025.
A few months ago, Bosch announced that the downturn in the EV industry prompted it to put on hold an expansion of its North Charleston factory. The $260 million investment at the Dorchester County site was announced in 2022 and was expected to create several hundred jobs.

Terri Ivester, who works with kindergarten students from Anderson School District Three, was reading to children in Ryleigh Gates' class Tuesday morning when she had a surprise visitor to her classroom.
Ivester, a reading coach at Starr Elementary, was surprised with a check for $10,000 and a visit from South Carolina Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver as she was named the third of five finalists for the title of South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
"Boys and girls, I have some more exciting news, you want to hear it? She is going to get $10,000," Weaver said to the children. "And she is going to get to compete to be the state teacher of the year and if she wins, she is going to get $25,000, isn't that awesome?" she said.
"I'm so proud of her," she said to the cheers from those gathered in the classroom.
"Helping teachers is a passion of mine," Ivester told the class and officials watching Superintendent Weaver interview her.
Ivester said she had been a teacher for as long as she could remember. "I've always felt like teaching is what I wanted to do," she said.
Starr Elementary has previously had success with top teachers in the state. In May 2018, Jeffrey Maxey, a special education resource teacher at Starr Elementary, won the 2019 South Carolina Teacher of the Year award presented by Superintendent Molly Spearman.
Taylor Carvajal of the Applied Academic Center of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg was the second teacher in the state to be surprised by Weaver during a visit to the school on Monday, March 10.
"Taylor Carvajal’s connection to her students runs deep. Inspired by her legally blind grandparents, she has spent her career ensuring blind and deaf students have the tools they need to succeed at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind," Weaver said. "Now, her dedication has earned her a spot as a finalist for South Carolina Teacher of the Year."
Lexington 4 Early Childhood Education teacher Miranda Grice was the first finalist, who was surprised on March 7.
"Before children learn to read or write, they learn to speak—and for some, that first step requires extra help," Weaver said. "Miranda Grice, a speech-language pathologist at Lexington Four Early Childhood Center, has dedicated her career to ensuring every child has a voice. Now, her impact has made her a finalist for South Carolina Teacher of the Year."

The program annually "identifies, recognizes, and celebrates exceptional teachers and their effective work in and outside the classroom. The teacher selected as South Carolina’s Teacher of the Year serves for one school year as a roving ambassador promoting the teaching profession and the state spokesperson for over 60,000 educators."
Last year, Braden Wilson, an eighth-grade history teacher at Palmetto Middle School in Williamston, Anderson School District One, was named South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
