What is Restylane?

Medical director Dr. Kenneth Farr provides a wide range of filler products to help correct signs of facial aging, addressing lost volume, lines, and wrinkles. Restylane is a popular brand of injectable dermal fillers since it treats several concerns with specialized formulas for results that are long-lasting. It uses a synthetic version of the body's natural HA (hyaluronic acid), giving the complexion a softer, natural appearance that is fuller and more supple. A custom dermal filler plan can address mild, moderate, or severe facial lines and wrinkles, as well as add volume to the lips and mid-face. VIP Cosmetic Surgery in Bluffton, SC carries a selection of Restylane products, like:

  • Restylane Defyne: Fills in moderate to deep laugh and smile lines
  • Restylane Refyne: Fills in moderate smile and laugh wrinkles
  • Restylane Kysse: Boosts the size and shape of the lips

how does restylane work?

Restylane injections are administered in one of our private med spa rooms at VIP Cosmetic Surgery. A numbing cream may be put on the treatment areas for greater patient comfort if preferred. The product is injected into your skin with a very fine needle and gently massaged so it fills the selected areas. Several injections will be needed, followed by a cold, gentle compress to reduce swelling. Each Restylane product is injected with the same technique but on different areas of the face based on your specific needs and cosmetic goals.

Once your Restylane treatment is finished, you may resume normal activities. The treated sites will be slightly swollen and red, but this typically goes away in a few hours. Bruising can be a factor, but this may be concealed with makeup. Many patients will notice improvements almost immediately after treatment, but it usually takes 1 – 2 weeks until the optimal results appear. Restylane often lasts around a year based on the exact product used.

Restylane FAQ

How much does Restylane cost?
Costs for Restylane treatments will vary based on several factors, like which formula is used, where it is used, how much filler is needed, and more. During your consultation, your injector will listen to your concerns and goals before developing a personalized injection plan. From there, your cost can be estimated, and we can review payment options.

What are the most common uses for Restylane?
Restylane has many products that are each formulated to help you appear rejuvenated but still natural. During your consultation, your injector can explain the different Restylane formulas and decide which matches your goals. Restylane Refyne, Defyne, and Lyft improve mild, moderate, or deep wrinkles and folds. Restylane Lyft and Silk increase volume in your lips, cheeks, and hands.

How often do I need to come back for a touch-up?
On average, Restylane results last from 6 – 18 months. Your results will vary depending on which formula is used, where it is injected, and other factors. During your initial consultation, your injector will make your treatment plan, including how often you should schedule appointments for treatments to maintain your appearance.

Do Restylane injections hurt?
There may be mild discomfort as the fine needle is injected under your skin. Prior to your injection, a local anesthetic can be applied to help you feel more comfortable. After the treatment, we will apply a cold compress to reduce swelling and bruising.

Will I look fake after Restylane?
Restylane injections, when done by a skilled injector, look gorgeous. The unique Restylane formula helps results look natural. VIP Cosmetic Surgery is pleased to offer Restylane treatments that will help you appear refreshed.
