What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift or browplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that helps create a lifted brow appearance. A droopy brow can oftentimes cause a tired or angry-looking profile. A browplasty surgically corrects a sagging brow by eliminating excess skin and lifting the eyebrows to a higher position. The results provide a refreshed, youthful look to the upper section of the face. Oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Kenneth Farr is an expert in brow lift surgery and has helped countless patients achieve a rejuvenated aesthetic. how is a brow lift performed?
A brow lift is a surgical procedure that is performed with general or IV sedation. There are several approaches that can be used, depending on the degree of skin laxity: traditional, trichophytic, lateral, or endoscopic. Dr. Farr will also consider the position of your hairline when determining the incision approach. Regardless of the method, the goal is the same — remove excess tissue and tighten the remaining skin to achieve an elevated appearance.
The recovery period following brow lift surgery varies for each patient with more discomfort and swelling occurring with the traditional technique versus the temporal or endoscopic methods. On average, patients will experience swelling and bruising around the brows and sometimes near the eyes. Cold compresses may help to diminish the swelling. Dr. Farr advises patients to sleep upright for the first several nights after their surgery. It is important to avoid any movement or activities that may put stress on the face. The typical recovery time is about 2 – 3 weeks.
Brow lift FAQs
Should I get a brow lift or facelift?
If wrinkles or common signs of aging appear on the forehead, a brow lift may be enough to rejuvenate your features. Cosmetic problems like drooping jowls along the lower area of the face may require traditional facelift surgery for maximum results.
Will my brow lift results look natural?
A brow lift allows men and women to appear more awake and alert without seeming "fake" or "worked on." An experienced provider like Dr. Farr knows how to create natural results that meet your individual facial structure and cosmetic goals.
Will a brow lift caus visible scarring?
The incisions made during a brow lift are normally concealed in the natural folds of your skin. Every effort is made to keep the incisions thin — so they are not visible after surgery and recovery.
