What is Radiesse?

RADIESSE is an injectable dermal filler that is great for mild to moderate wrinkles and lines on the face and for fixing volume loss in the hands. Men and women who might not have a lot of time for repeat touch-ups love the lasting results (over a year in many cases) of RADIESSE. Using microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite in a water-based gel, RADIESSE fills and softens the look of your skin without the time and expense of surgery. It can also be used in tandem with other injectable treatments (wrinkle relaxers and fillers) for a personalized procedure plan to rejuvenate your skin. Look several years younger and improve your self-image with RADIESSE injectable wrinkle fillers at VIP Cosmetic Surgery in Bluffton, SC. Medical director Dr. Kenneth Farr and our team look forward to serving you.

how does radiesse work?

RADIESSE treatments take about 30 – 60 minutes to complete once you have undergone your initial consultation with Dr. Farr. To start the procedure, you will sit in a relaxed position while the treatment areas will be cleaned and marked. Then, RADIESSE will be carefully administered and massaged into the needed areas.

After your treatment, you may see mild redness, bruising, and swelling. This is common and typically lasts about a week. If the side effects last longer, please do not hesitate to call VIP Cosmetic Surgery in Bluffton, SC. Most patients have visible results minutes after the treatment with optimal results appearing in a month or so. RADIESSE typically lasts longer compared to other dermal fillers — about 1 – 2 years. You should talk to Dr. Farr during your consultation about how soon to schedule your next treatment to touch up your results.

Radiesse FAQ

How much does RADIESSE cost?
The cost of RADIESSE is dependent on the amount used to match your goals. During your initial consultation at our practice, we will discuss your expected results and create your personalized treatment plan. After this, they can discuss your potential costs for your treatment.

How does RADIESSE compare to other fillers?
Fillers each have unique properties and formulas to help with various concerns. Common ingredients in fillers include HA (hyaluronic acid), calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa), poly-L-lactic acid, and PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate). RADIESSE is composed of calcium-based microspheres, which are similar to HA wrinkle fillers due to the ability to stimulate the natural production of collagen. During your consultation, we will explain the various options and evaluate your skin's volume, laxity, and tone to determine which filler will address your concerns.

Are RADIESSE injections painful?
Generally, patients don't need numbing cream before their injections. However, numbing cream can be provided to relieve any concerns you may have. New patients only feel minor and short-lived discomfort as the needle goes in.

What are the side effects of RADIESSE?
Injections of RADIESSE rarely produce serious side effects when done by a skilled injector, like the ones at VIP Cosmetic Surgery. In your consult, talk to your injector about medications you take and if you have any known allergies to prevent a reaction. Right after your treatment, you might experience mild redness, bruising, itching, or numbness. These are temporary and should subside in a few days.

What other procedures can I combine with RADIESSE?
Injections of RADIESSE can be done in combination with other injectable and nonsurgical treatments to help achieve your ideal results. Some patients use dermal fillers, like RADIESSE, along with BOTOX® or another wrinkle relaxer to create an overall younger-looking appearance. Talk to your injector when they are creating your treatment plan to learn more about other treatments that complement the results of RADIESSE injections.
