What is an eyelid lift?
A person's eyes are a unique component of the face that deserves to be visible; however, an excess of skin on top or around the eyes can produce an unflattering facial appearance. Oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Kenneth Farr performs eyelid surgery (known as blepharoplasty) to reduce excess skin and rejuvenate the lower and/or upper eyelids, creating a softer look. So many men and women receive eyelid surgery at VIP Cosmetic Surgery to eliminate saggy eyelids, leading to improved functionality and facial appearance. Upper and lower eyelid surgery creates a softer, younger appearance and can give you subtle yet striking improvements. If you are interested in refreshing your eyes with eyelid lift surgery, schedule a consultation with Dr. Farr at our practice in Bluffton or Hilton Head, SC.

"I ventured into this experience knowing that I could use some cosmetic work, but was hesitant and nervous about it. I interviewed more than one practice before deciding to place my face and eyes in the care of Dr. Farr and the staff at VIP. Dr. Farr and all his associates have made me completely comfortable at each procedure. I'm extremely happy I placed my trust in them. Not only are you made to feel like "one of the family," but they solicit your feedback and truly listen. Their professionalism is unquestionable: they constantly train in the latest techniques and products... I doubt there are any problems they cannot correct or make vastly better. VERY happy here!"- J.A. / Google / May 18, 2022
Who is a candidate for an eyelid lift?
Upper or lower blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that is sought out by both women and men. During your private consultation, treatment options will be provided by Dr. Farr based on your conditions that need to be corrected. Generally, ideal candidates are impaired by excess, sagging skin and folds that exist on the top eyelid or bulging skin below the bottom eyelid. These conditions can cause vision impairment that can hinder everyday activities. For a rejuvenated appearance, eyelid surgery may be the right treatment for you. If you have loose skin that droops on the upper eyelid or bulging bags under the eyes, blepharoplasty can fix this to give you a softer appearance.
Depending on the nature of the eyelid surgery, general anesthesia or IV sedation will be given. This procedure may be done on the upper eyelid alone, on the bottom eyelid, or a blend of both treatments.
Upper eyelid surgery assists in diminishing loose skin that impairs vision to create a more appealing eyelid appearance. The incision point is often placed along the lash line or natural crease to remove skin.
Lower eyelid surgery is performed to reduce puffy skin under the lower lid. In most cases, an incision is made just under the lash line. Small pockets of fat will be removed first, and then the skin will be delicately lifted to allow for a smoother look.
Blepharoplasty can last up to two hours, depending on whether one or both eyes are being treated. After this outpatient surgery, you should plan several days to rest. Ice packs can help reduce discomfort, swelling, and bruising. The results from eyelid surgery may last a decade or longer, but while they are long-lasting, the aging process does not stop. To continue to enhance your surgical outcomes, facial rejuvenation treatments at VIP Cosmetic Surgery, such as lasers, chemical peels, and fillers, can be paired to create a fresh appearance.
